Job Summary

GDS is actively seeking a creative and highly talented Railway Senior Designer. This is a key role within the Global Delivery Services (GDS) team and will report to the Head of Linear Infrastructures team based in Warsaw.

Job Duties

  • Coordinating and leading a Linear Infrastructures (Civil) team focus on a specific sub-discipline or several sub-disciplines related to rail design;
  • Performing different analysis and design of linear infrastructures projects covering at least the following fields: Railway Geometric Design, P-Way, track design;
  • Supporting internal proposals, including quality documentation and costings;
  • Responsibility for managing, coordinating, and administering a package of work, off-shored to the GDS group, from conceptual stages through all phases of the projects, with the assistance of the project team;
  • Initiating and directing the planning, development, and continuous monitoring of the project scope, procedures, budget and schedule;
  • Reviewing and validating all comments received from Project's representatives (owners, contractors, AECOM owning geo, etc.) on a specific discipline and coordinates timely resolutions to maintain project schedule, budget, and quality requirements;
  • Serving as a railway technical specialist in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles or processes for an assigned area of responsibility within the Linear Infrastructures team;
  • Appling specialized knowledge and sharing expertise to colleagues;
  • Performing quality control of works accomplished by members of a team;
  • As a technical specialist making decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities;
  • As an individual consultant, formulating and guiding the attack on problems of exceptional difficulty and marked importance to the organization or industry;
  • Training and evaluating less experienced staff;
  • Mentoring and managing staff on projects;
  • Comply with statutory, project and AECOM-specific health and safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University;
  • 10+ years in transportation projects; preferably rail track design;
  • 3+ years managing Railway project teams;
  • Proven track record of working on Railway projects and collaborating with international and multi-cultural teams;
  • Experience working with international regulations and standards;
  • Proficient in at least one software packages for track design such as: OPENRAIL, RAIL TRACK, CIVIL 3D , etc.;
  • Working knowledge of BIM platforms for linear infrastructure projects will be considered favorably;
  • Proven commitment with Quality Control Policy and Quality Management System;
  • Demonstrable management skills and presence;
  • Fluent in English and Polish (oral and written);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the North America/Australia region will be considered favorably;
  • US Professional Engineer license will be considered favorably.
