We are seeking an enthusiastic Principal Engineer with particular experience in renewable energy project management and business development to support our Europe business from within our Aberdeen office and to manage, further develop and undertake engineering and design activities in the offshore and renewable energy business. Our engineering department is experiencing a period of rapid growth as we strive to meet increasing demand in both renewables and oil and gas projects.

By joining our team, you will play a pivotal role in helping us develop solutions to support energy industry and decarbonisation contributions. As part of our team, you will manage multi-disciplinary project teams across a wide variety of offshore engineering projects, including conceptual, feasibility and FEED studies, detailed design and verification activities. You will take a leading role on these projects and develop strong working relationships with the engineering team and our clients. You will take responsibility to support and develop engineers within the team to deliver the technical excellence 2H expect across a wide variety of engineering projects.

Duties/Responsibilities

Primarily execute, guide and review analysis and design work for dynamic structures, interpreting results to form sound engineering judgements and recommendations in one or more of the following fields; Fixed and Floating Offshore Wind moorings, anchors and cables (primary focus) and other decarbonisation technologies (wave energy converters, seawater intake risers and more);
Apply knowledge of numerical analysis techniques including finite element analysis (FEA) and dynamic analysis of structures;
Liaise with clients and the 2H team to solve problems and establish viable solutions for systems configuration and operation;
Prepare and review project technical documentation including presentations, reports and specifications;
Participate in and lead meetings and presentations to clients;
Support business development activities and represent 2H at conferences, expos and seminars.

Requirements

Minimum 2:1 Masters degree in relevant engineering degree (mechanical, civil, ocean, hydrodynamics, structural);
Minimum 6-8 years' experience in the offshore energy industry;
Track record of undertaking either moorings, anchors and cables analysis, riser analysis, conductor analysis, installation analysis or similar in OrcaFlex or Flexcom;
Capability to oversee and review complex dynamic analysis based design work, interpreting results to form sound engineering judgements and recommendations;
Ability and enthusiasm to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision;
Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team, with a strong sense of personal accountability and self-motivation;
Excellent communicator, in both written and verbal forms, with highly effective inter-personal skills supported by good attention to detail;
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards;
Desire and ambition to achieve both technical and personal excellence by committing to personal and professional development;
Preferably chartered or seeking to become chartered.
