About the Job

The purpose of the Team Manager Automation Development is to manage an R&D team who develops, maintains, and creates tooling for multidisciplinary automation solutions for products within BU Heat and Gas Systems with primary focus on environmental solutions for marine vessels.

As our Automation Team Manager, it is important that you have focus on a good and fun work environment, while ensuring high work quality, on-time deliveries and keeping design integrity.

Automation Development has a well-defined way of working with ISA88 modular design, V-model development cycle and Scrum is rooted within the team as well as Azure DevOps is a part of the toolbox.

With your developer background and leadership experience you can navigate and steer the team towards the right technical approach for a given solution.

The Team Manager reports directly to Manager of Automation Development and manages a team of ~10 Engineers, a mix of fixed employees and contractors.

  • Maintain and further develop Automation Development Way of working;
  • Close cooperation with Aalborg (Denmark) site and Automation Development manager;
  • Have a clear overview of the activities, resources, and competencies in the team;
  • Hire new team members or consultants for helping when experiencing peak loads;
  • Based on your knowledge and close connection to the team members, manage the team by:
    • Give coaching to the individual Employee enabling them to deliver the best solutions;
    • Frequent development meeting with the employees;
    • Keep the team informed about the overall status of the business;
    • Nurture and maintain a good transparent culture and dialogue in the team;
    • Ensuring exchange of experience in the team between colleagues and other departments.
  • Close cooperation with System Development and other Stakeholders;
  • Working in a matrix organization, cooperates with other specialist within the business.

Who you are

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Controls or Electrical Engineering (BSc, BEng, MSc, MEng);
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Well-developed skills, knowledge and experience with Automation Development;
  • Can develop innovative and practical design solutions;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written;
  • Have experience within competence and team development, as well as change management;
  • Experience with Scrum, ISA88, V-model and front-end web development is a plus;
  • Are persistent, ambitious, and self-driven.
