Main responsibilities

  • Lead research and development projects focused on the use of existing, design of new, and characterization of polymer (including elastomer) materials with desired properties, including mechanical strength, thermal stability, chemical resistance, and cost optimization;
  • Develop in cooperation with partners, novel polymer formulations, compounding techniques, and processing methods to enhance material performance, processability, and manufacturability;
  • Conduct detailed analyses and characterization in cooperation with partners of polymer materials using advanced techniques such as spectroscopy, microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, and mechanical testing;
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including research scientists, engineers, and application specialists, to address customer needs, solve technical challenges, and develop customized polymer solutions;
  • Provide technical support and expertise to internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers, including participating in technical meetings, and product development discussions;
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual property, including patents, publications, and technical reports, to protect technologies developed by the company. 

Key Qualifications

  • Master or Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science or related field, with a focus on polymer materials and applications;
  • 5 years of experience in polymer research, development, and characterization, preferably in an industrial R&D setting;
  • Strong expertise in polymer chemistry, polymer processing, and structure-property relationships of polymers;
  • Experienced in polymer characterization techniques and mechanical testing;
  • Hands-on experience with polymer synthesis, compounding, extrusion, injection molding, or other polymer processing techniques;
  • Demonstrated track record of successful project management, technical leadership, and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to identify and address technical challenges;
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying current with industry advancements and best practices in polymer science and engineering.

  • Structured and systematic;
  • Proactive and self-motivated with high level of initiative and creative approach to problem solving;
  • Capable of working well in a multi-disciplinary team environment with high degree of collaboration across locations;
  • Proficiency with English, Norwegian language would be an advantage.
