Analog Devices is seeking a Test Development Engineer to join the Biosensor Group in Limerick, Ireland.

As part of the Digital Healthcare Business Group, the Biosensor Group are developing a portfolio of sensor systems comprising novel electrochemical sensors, microfluidic assemblies, signal chain solutions, and embedded software.

The Test Development Engineer will lead the development of production test solutions for the group. These solutions will provide capability for high volume production testing and calibration of sensors in controlled environments. Testing will include controlling the delivery of calibration fluids to the sensors under test while measuring and calibrating the sensor performance. As test and calibration are often dominant components in sensor cost of goods (CoGs), developing cost effective, innovative solutions to the test challenges are an important commercial differentiator.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition and design a reliable and efficient volume production test solution for Biosensors;
  • Work closely with the Sensor Architect, Designers, Evaluation and Global Operations & Technology (GO&T) Engineers;
  • Definition and implementation of the control automation software;
  • Coordinate work on the design of the electrical, software, mechanical and fluidic aspects of the solution;
  • Lead the development and validation of a prototype solution based on the agreed design;
  • Lead the development & deployment of the volume production solution;
  • Manage and maintain required documentation & development schedules.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Eng. or an equivalent professional qualification;
  • 10+ years of experience in high-volume product development in biotechnology, medical devices, semiconductor, biomedical, or related industries;
  • Experience in managing and coordinating all aspects of new product test developments;
  • Experience with testing of electrochemical sensor products would be a significant benefit;
  • Have demonstrated initiative in identifying and solving technical problems;
  • An inquisitive nature and willingness to tackle multiple disciplinary challenges;
  • Experience developing customized test solutions would be a benefit;
  • Experience working with external vendors and equipment providers;
  • Strong teamwork, inter-personal and communication skills are essential, with demonstrated ability to work at a high level of performance, independently and in teams;
  • Experience in any of the following areas, would be an advantage;
  • Labview, Keil or IAR, Cortex M3, C++/C#/ Python, PCB layout tools (Cadence), CAD packages.
