With Spain joining the Franco-German cooperation, the programme took an important step towards its Europeanization. This position provides you the opportunity to perform technology and system development in an industrial environment. You will be part of the Avionics System Design and Technology Team of Airbus Military Aircraft Engineering located in Manching/Germany. The work will focus on cooperating airborne manned/unmanned platforms within FCAS program. This also addresses cross-platform collaborative sensing functions which are to be implemented in future avionics mission systems of aircrafts. This includes sensors, computing hardware, and system software. Your work will include:

  • Analysis and breakdown of customer needs and requirements on avionics system level;
  • Assessment and analysis of airborne candidate technologies;
  • Conceptual design of single- and multi-platform interacting sensor systems;
  • Development and maturation of novel system and software architectures for collaborative sensor systems;
  • Implementation of prototypes and demonstrators using future avionics hardware platforms, including verification of the developed technologies;
  • Participation in research and development projects involving multiple stakeholders;
  • Presentation of results to the internal and external project partners.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Educated to PhD or Master Degree level (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, or similar;
  • Solid academic background in sensor data processing, sensor data fusion and sensor management;
  • Able to perform in an environment that promotes independent work;
  • Deep interest in cooperative systems, cognitive robotics, autonomy and artificial intelligence;
  • Experiences in embedded/hardware-near software development, preferable for airborne mission systems;
  • Good skills in programming, C/C++, Java, ADA, Python, as well as in Linux, GCC and make scripts, preferably already applied to embedded systems;
  • Ability and interest to perform self-motivated work in an international project context;
  • You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and can work independently.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
