Senior Pipelines Engineer - TANAP Project

Reporting to the Pipelines Project Manager, the Senior Pipeline Engineer will form part of the team responsible for ensuring the design integrity of a 56” pipeline currently being constructed. The position will be London based however regular travel to Ankara Turkey will be required based on operational requirements (6 week/2week roster on average) for providing relief/coverage for in-country engineering personnel and to participate in engineering-construction meetings and workshops.

Responding to both technical queries and deviation requests from the construction contractors, tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Engineering support to Construction (field engineering) and assistance in reviewing/assessing pipeline field changes and as-built drawings;
  • Interface and resolution of technical design/issues and punch-lists for Construction;
  • Technical review of construction contractor submittals (as necessary);
  • Evaluation of pipeline re-route requests originating from Site (where determined suitable and agreed by Client);
  • Process new or updated crossing designs (as associated with re-routes or as required by external authorities);
  • Perform and check pipeline design and calculations (wall thickness, expansion, flotation, bend analysis, anchor block, upheaval buckling, crossings design, pipeline protection, buried pipe-soil analysis, stress/strain based design);
  • Prepare pipeline materials specifications and datasheets as necessary;
  • Prepare scopes of work packs or material requisition packages as assigned;
  • Develop/update design drawings, including typical details and alignment sheets in accordance with the approved design philosophies;
  • Carryout out other technical tasks as assigned – maintaining MTOs, re-route/crossing registers, change control registers, provide inputs into procedures and processes;
  • Liaise with Client Engineering personnel;
  • Participate in Engineering-Construction coordination meetings;
  • Coordinate with other discipline members and subject matters experts;
  • Assuring pipeline designer responsibility throughout the Construction and Commissioning phases;
  • Must have previous experience with an EPC or Construction company in Pipeline engineering and construction for onshore pipelines carrying oil/gas/chemicals;
  • Must be conversant with UK, European & US pipeline codes, in particular B31.8 and B31.3);
  • Be fully conversant with onshore buried pipeline analysis theory and methodology;
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Oil and Gas/Refinery/Petrochemicals industry and 10 years’ experience in the design/construction of pipelines and associated facilities;
  • Proven track record of working within project teams on similar major projects;
  • Minimum qualification Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Civils Engineering (from a recognized educational University Institute).
