Role overview:

We're looking for a passionate Stack Development Engineer to join our team at Stargate Hydrogen. Have you just finished your PhD or gained experience in the electrolyzer or fuel cell industry and want to bring your experiences into practice? Then our stack development team might be just the right place for you.

You will be part of a team that works on unique green hydrogen solutions and join us in developing our electrolyzer stacks. You'd fit perfectly into this role and our culture if you are naturally curious, enjoy having a laugh from time to time, and are ready to take ownership of your work.

The position is open to hire internationally, and Stargate will assist international candidates with the relocation process.

What does the day-to-day look like in this role?

  • Identifying upside potentials within stack development and initiating their implementation;
  • Calculations of stack performance, losses, heat and fluid flow in stacks;
  • Defining requirements for materials used within stack modules;
  • Improving the overall stack performance and lifetime;
  • Collaboration with or coordination of stack test programs;
  • Defining the components' specifications for procurement;
  • Stack component and vendor qualification;
  • Working together with external partners (research institutes, suppliers, customers).

Must-have qualifications:

  • University degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Material Science;
  • Knowledge of electrolysis stacks;
  • Knowledge in electrochemistry;
  • Ability to take charge of problems;
  • Great communication skills in English, any other languages are a plus.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Experience in stack development (AEL, PEM, AEM or SOEC/SOFC stacks), or stack components (bipolar plates, gaskets etc., sealing);
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
