R&D Engineer - System Engineering Commercial Product Industrialization & Modularity

Job Purpose:

Within System Engineering organization, manage for all commercial product categories (TBR, AG, PCT):

• New products & TPA, Industrialization
• Support Design to Modularity realization in the shopfloor
• Promotion + Activation de-complexity opportunity in manufacturing.

Main Accountabilities:

According Lean process & following “Well Born Tire” concept to:

• Arrange & Follow qualification trials of new commercial product (TBR, PCT & AG) to be industrialized (Size Expansion & Master Size single loop)
• Arrange & Follow qualification trials of Transfer product from one plant to another in commercial category (TBR, PCT & AG)
• Promote & activate initiatives in favor of manufacturing de-complexity in EMEA plants
• Support on optimizing product Manufacturing cost (DMC & CC)
• Set & drive together with CTD a structured modularity approach in commercial (by design & “retrofit”)
• Support on driving Commercial Product industrialization to digitalization in a Maximize the adoption of Virtual tools to minimize the actual prototypes

• Commercial Tire Development (CTD)
• Compound and Material development (MID)
• Production Plants (Bilbao, BSST, PSM, Brisa, Pune, Brits, LKL)
• Logistics (IPL – LSCM)
• Quality Assurance functions (QM & plant local QS)
• Manufacturing/Engineering division (MTDS & & plant local Engineering)
• Business Unit (CPM, SALES, RET Tech, RET TSG)

Technical skills

Specific:

• Tire basic/advanced technical Knowledge (Tire Features, Performances and Mechanics) (M).
• Indoor & Outdoor testing (NTH).
• CREO (M).
• Vulcan J (M).

General:

• Project management (M).
• Problem solving (M).
• Design of Experiment skill (M)
• Innovation attitude (NTH)
• Basic knowledge of:
  • Statistics (M).
  • 6sigma (NTH).
  • FMEA (NTH).
  • MS office (M).

Background

• University degree in mechanical engineering (M).
• Already acquired Familiarity on tire “environment” (NTH).

Language skills

• Fluent level of English (M).

Others

• Availability on travels (NTH).
• Openness to evaluate at proper time on Job rotation within and outside department (NTH).
