Senior Project Manager, Cell Manufacturing PMO

Senior Project Manager, Cell Manufacturing PMO

Tesla

Grünheide (Mark), Germany

The Role

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager to support the Project Management Office (PMO) within Cell Manufacturing at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. This role acts as the right-hand partner to the Sr. Manager Cell, combining strong project planning and reporting capabilities with governance development, escalation leadership, and the standardization of PMO best practices. You will maintain full visibility into project status, drive cross-functional alignment, hold engineering and operational teams accountable for outcomes, and provide both operational and strategic support in a fast-paced environment. The position demands exceptional communication skills, analytical rigor, technical depth, high personal accountability, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the right-hand partner to the Sr. Manager Cell, developing governance processes in close collaboration while providing comprehensive support for both day-to-day operational and strategic activities to proactively streamline priorities, anticipate needs, and maximize effectiveness to support cell manufacturing deployment, expansion, ramp and efficient operations;
  • Contribute to PMO best practices by implementing and standardizing documentation, reporting, project management processes, lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, and operational excellence methodologies across the GFBB Cell Manufacturing organization;
  • Create, maintain, communicate, and present detailed project schedules, status updates, risk assessments, recovery plans, milestone reports, and represent projects with clarity and confidence to leadership;
  • Work closely with Cell Engineering, Cell Operations, Factory Design, Quality, Supply Chain, Production Planning, and other functions to scope projects, develop comprehensive plans (strategy, scope, schedule, risks, resources, cost targets), align priorities, and ensure seamless execution and handovers;
  • Build strong, trust-based collaboration with the teams while holding them accountable for project outcomes; use process knowledge to challenge assumptions, support root cause analysis and drive sustainable results;
  • Lead escalations with urgency and structure — triage issues, mobilize resources, drive root cause, implement countermeasures, and close the loop to prevent recurrence.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering (or equivalent with demonstrated exceptional ability);
  • 5–8+ years of progressive experience in project engineering, PMO, manufacturing engineering, or operational leadership roles in high-volume, high-precision manufacturing environments;
  • Proven track record owning complex manufacturing projects end-to-end, including scoping, detailed scheduling, budgeting, risk management, cross-functional coordination, supplier engagement, ramp execution, and delivery to volume;
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, ThinkCell (or equivalent visualization tools), JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Project (or similar). AutoCAD or experience with semi-automated/automated manufacturing equipment is a plus;
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, OEE calculation and improvement, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, structured problem-solving, and project management best practices;
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly develop technical depth in manufacturing processes to collaborate effectively with Engineering while maintaining clear accountability for outcomes;
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment;
  • High personal accountability, detail orientation, and the ability to build sustainable systems and documentation practices;
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken);
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
