What to Expect

Tesla is seeking an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer with experience in prototyping electromechanical actuators and solving problems related to electric motors. This person will be working as part of the Tesla motor technology team located in Athens, Greece, towards improving motor technologies, developing prototyping & validation plans and providing engineering feedback to external suppliers/vendors for various projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and prototype electric motors for automotive auxiliary system actuators;
  • Perform 2D/3D FEA simulations to derive the electromagnetic behavior of various electromechanical components;
  • Development of advanced MATLAB functions to model performance and efficiency of electromechanical systems;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, test engineering, to optimize motor designs;
  • Development of validation/verification plans;
  • Create high level reports of material and motor characterization experiments;
  • Coordinate prototyping efforts, including material selection, assembly processes, and performance testing;
  • Analyze testing data and implement improvements in motor efficiency, durability, and cost-effectiveness;
  • Oversee pilot-line production processes, ensuring quality and efficiency in small-scale manufacturing;
  • Stay updated on cutting-edge technologies and integrate innovative solutions into the most power dense, efficient, low cost and reliable electric motors.

What You’ll Bring

  • Studies in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Very strong mathematical and physics background;
  • Very strong fundamentals in electromagnetics, thermals for electrical machines;
  • System-Level understanding, identifying the fundamental physics principles of each system;
  • Experience using power analyzer/oscilloscope and knowledge of electrical measurements;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment;
  • English fluently in speaking, reading, and writing.

The following will be considered a plus:

  • Previous experience in design and/or prototyping of electrical machines;
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing techniques, including additive manufacturing and CNC machining;
  • Understanding of power electronics that work in conjunction with electric machines.
