What to Expect

The Equipment Engineer in the Equipment Engineering team will be a part of operating, sustaining, and improving some of the most automated manufacturing equipment in the world. The best candidate for the position has a high aptitude to learn new skillsets in the position. This role requires capability across the board to sustain all parts of the automated equipment. The expectation is not that you arrive on day 1 with this capability, but that you have the attitude and desire to learn all aspects of automation.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and decide appropriate maintenance strategy for productive assets, equipment and machinery.
  • Responsible for the professional execution of preventive maintenance, servicing and calibrations on productive and test machinery.
  • Eliminate failures and malfunctions on complex production and assembly machines for the Tesla Model Y Battery Pack production.
  • Diagnose faults, troubleshooting breakdowns, root cause analysis and lessons learn report of complex failures.
  • Make daily resource allocation decisions, balancing competing priorities.
  • Document and admin the continuous improvement of maintenance activities for supporting cross trainings and upskill the maintenance team.
  • Follow up tasks to comply on legal requirement topics related to maintenance structure (e.g., hazards materials, yearly approvals of safety equipment).
  • Coordination of CE acceptance processes, including documentation management and stakeholder walk-downs with e.g. equipment manufacturers, EHS, engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Collection, validation, and analysis of equipment performance data, including energy consumption, downtime, and overall system efficiency metrics.
  • Support in contact and supervision of external services with contractors.
  • Work in cross functional teams on methods to improve maintenance organizational and technical knowledge.
  • KPI driven for Safety, Availability, MTTR, MTBF, scrap, cost, moral.

What You’ll Bring

  • BS in electrical, mechanics or mechatronics or equivalent experience.
  • Experience within heavily automated, high volume manufacturing facilities, including but not limited to assembly, robotics, etc.
  • Professional experience in the field of maintenance of production and assembly machines, preferably in the automotive or mass production industry.
  • Desirable experience in use of the following tools: Servomotors Siemens, Rexroth, Beckhoff or similar; PLC software such as Tia Portal, Twin Cat, or similar; Fanuc, Kuka Robots or similar, Keyence or similar vision systems, Tightening spindles Atlas Copco, Cleco, Rexroth or similar, different Conveyor Systems.
  • Good English skills in speaking and writing.
  • Proficient skills in communication verbal and written.
