If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and working on real-world high-tech applications, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of probe development, from concept and simulation to testing and final implementation.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Participate in the development of ultrasonic (UT) and/or eddy current (ET) probes;
  • Prepare technical drawings and models using CAD tools (e.g. Inventor);
  • Perform basic acoustic and electromagnetic simulations of probes using CAE tools (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL, CIVA, OnScale);
  • Produce UT/ET probe prototypes in collaboration with manufacturing teams;
  • Contribute to the development of technical solutions aimed at design optimization;
  • Participate in field testing activities;
  • Support sales-related activities;
  • Order necessary components;
  • Lead projects, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, deadlines and budget constraints;
  • Monitor technological developments and innovations in the field of NDE probes;
  • Apply new methods and technologies to improve product performance;
  • Test developed probes;
  • Collect, analyze and document post-testing data;
  • Ensure products meet fundamental quality standards and technical specifications;
  • Prepare technical documentation for developed products, including specifications, user instructions and test protocols;
  • Update and maintain documentation in line with project requirements;
  • Identify and resolve technical issues during development and testing phases;
  • Propose design and process improvements;
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with industry standards and regulations;
  • Adhere to internal work procedures;
  • Prepare and review materials for technical reports and reviews, actively contributing to evaluation processes;
  • Report to the head of the department on progress, challenges and achievements as needed and/or upon request;
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding procurement of key components;
  • Collaborate with senior team members on design solutions and iterations;
  • Work closely with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful task execution;
  • Provide support to junior engineers through mentorship and technical guidance.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Minimum Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, physics (particularly applied physics, acoustics or electromagnetism), materials and technology;
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in the development of probes, instruments, sensors or related products within a research and development (R&D) environment;
  • Advanced understanding, analysis and optimization of incoming technical project requirements;
  • Understanding of electromagnetic principles and acoustics applicable to NDE technologies; (preferred)
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing for NDE probes; (preferred)
  • Advanced understanding and creation of technical documentation;
  • Understanding of the principles of development, design and optimization of UT and/or ET probes for use in non-destructive testing; (preferred)
  • Knowledge of materials used in probes, such as piezoelectric crystals, ceramics, metals and plastics; (preferred)
  • Understanding of prototype manufacturing processes and basic production technologies (e.g. CNC machining and/or 3D printing);
  • Basic knowledge of CAE software for simulations (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL, CIVA, OnScale);
  • Knowledge of industry trends;
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB, Python) and the MS Office suite, as well as project planning;
  • Knowledge of software for drafting, design and modeling (e.g. Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD);
  • Understanding of working with measuring devices such as oscilloscopes or signal analyzers;
  • Understanding of communication protocols (e.g. SPI, I2C or UART); (preferred)
  • Understanding of industry standards and regulations for ultrasonic and/or eddy current technologies (e.g. ISO 9712, EN 12668); (preferred)
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
