To support our growth, we are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join our Hardware & Firmware team. You will be instrumental in designing, developing and testing new Arduino boards for mass production. You will work across the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept and architecture definition to deployment and ongoing support, ensuring our products are robust, performant, and secure.

What you'll work on

  • Define hardware specifications in coordination with cross-functional teams, including product management, firmware, and application software;
  • Design hardware boards in collaboration with firmware and supply chain teams, taking into account DFM guidelines for mass production, procurement constraints, and cost targets;
  • Collaborate closely with firmware engineers to bring up new boards, debug hardware-software interactions, and ensure seamless integration;
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues involving analog and digital hardware circuitry;
  • Create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation for designs and test procedures;
  • Represent Arduino at internal and external events, sharing our spirit with the developer community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience; OR
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience; OR
  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering;
  • At least 5 years of experience in hardware board development, preferably with products that have reached high‑volume mass production, including mixed‑signal circuitry involving microcontrollers or microprocessors;
  • Strong proficiency in hardware design with at least one industry‑standard CAD tool, including Altium, KiCad, Cadence, or comparable platforms;
  • Hands-on experience with hardware testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies and multimeters, as well as familiarity with common interfaces and communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, CAN, GPIO);
  • Experience in soldering and reworking hardware prototypes;
  • Able to write high quality technical documentation in English;
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written is mandatory.

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of the Arduino ecosystem;
  • Experience with Altium Designer;
  • Advanced microscopic soldering and rework skills, including reworks of 0201 components and BGA packages.
