Electrical Engineer (UAV Avionics, Power & EMI-Resilient Systems)
DeltaQuad
Duivendrecht, Netherlands
The role
As an Electrical Engineer at DeltaQuad, you take technical ownership of the design, development, and integration of mission-critical electrical and avionics systems for advanced UAV platforms.
You define and implement the electrical architecture, integrating subsystems such as power distribution, avionics, PX4/Pixhawk-based flight control systems, C2 and GCS interfaces, sensors, RF communication links, and mission payloads.
You design and iterate compact, low-power, SWaP-optimised avionics and interface boards for UAVs operating in GPS-denied and electronically contested environments. Your work emphasises reliability, safety, EMI robustness, and scalability for series production.
You are actively involved in schematic design, PCB layout, and system-level integration, ensuring designs meet high standards for manufacturability, consistency, and compliance.
With strong expertise in power electronics, energy management, and battery/BMS systems, you implement robust grounding, shielding, and noise mitigation strategies.
You enjoy solving complex cross-domain challenges, from RF interference and power integrity issues to system-level failures - and contribute to building dependable, production-ready UAV platforms that enhance operational resilience and safety across Europe.
Key responsibilities
Design and own electrical architectures for mission-critical UAV systems
Develop and review schematics and multi-layer PCBs (Altium/KiCad) for high-power, high-reliability, EMC-critical applications
Design SWaP-optimised avionics and power distribution systems, including protections and redundancy for critical loads
Integrate PX4/Pixhawk-based hardware, including sensor buses, power trees, and safety circuits
Ensure robust EMI/EMC performance through grounding schemes, filtering, shielding, and domain separation
Integrate RF systems (antennas, radios, GNSS, data links) with strong focus on signal integrity and interference mitigation
Perform system-level debugging and root-cause analysis using lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, current probes)
Conduct FMEA, FTA, and reliability/safety analyses
Define and lead verification, validation, and acceptance testing, including HIL and flight testing
Support certification and compliance activities (aerospace/military standards)
Contribute across the full product lifecycle: requirements - design - bring-up - testing - iteration - release
Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, systems, and flight test teams
