We are looking for a creative and proactive Mechanical Design Engineer who can thrive in a big organization and excel in collaboration internally with many other disciplines and stakeholders at our 3 main sites in Lynge, Singapore and Erlangen, and externally with a wide range of suppliers.

In this role you will be part of the mechanical design team in the department of Initial and Special Products developing cutting-edge hearing aids and earwear for WSA's brands. The team is involved in most aspects of the product development cycles incl. early-stage forefront projects, concepting, prototyping, detailed design, maturation for production, documentation, testing, verification and investigating field returns. On a daily basis, we work closely with other disciplines such as electro-acoustic designers, wireless antenna designers, hardware designers and material specialists just to mention a few and we have state-of-the-art in-house production, testing and prototyping facilities.

What you will do

  • Participate in product development projects to design and develop mechanical parts/modules/systems for hearing aids and related products (including plastic, rubber, metal, hybrid electrical/mechanical components) from concept through to market launch;
  • Contribute to early-stage development activities such as concept creation, simulations, material studies, and user trials;
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) processes, part verification, testing, and system approval in collaboration with Applied Research, the Reliability Test Team, and external partners and suppliers;
  • Create, issue, review, and approve product data, item structures, and project documentation (including Engineering Change Orders) within the PLM system, ensuring compliance with WSA Quality Management System (QMS) and internal guidelines;
  • Depending on your technical interest and competences, you can develop skills and execute tasks in a specialized area within our technical domains;
  • Participate in early investigations and innovation-driven, forefront projects to support future product development initiatives.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design & Innovation, Plastic Engineering, Materials/Manufacturing Engineering or related fields;
  • Skilled competencies in CAD modelling. PTC CREO will be your most important tool;
  • Proactive, structured, analytical and able to work in complex, multi-disciplinary projects/teams, often with many unknowns;
  • Previous experience with design of small injection molded plastic and rubber parts is a big plus.
