How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Head of Department is part of the line organization. He/She is the disciplinary superior of the piping engineers, designers, and lead engineers of the Piping Discipline within the Engineering Direction and has the technical responsibility for the discipline both in the line and project organization.

His/Her primary obligation is to ensure successful project execution and achieving positive project results by providing adequate resources (including but not limited to qualified and competent personnel, tools, lean workflows and procedures) to projects, proposal development, site support and developing, mentoring, training and supporting department personnel on projects, proposal development and site support.

  • Team Leadership: Managing performance of team members by setting objectives, tracking progress, and providing constructive feedback through regular appraisals;
  • Resource Management: Planning mid- and long-term personnel requirements; allocating employees to projects based on competence profile, availability, and project/proposal requirements;
  • External Staffing: Ensuring proper staffing for project short term needs by managing contract or third party personnel;
  • Technical Governance: Accountability for recruitment and know-how buildup in the piping discipline to meet the company's current and future needs;
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Ensuring seamless interfaces with other disciplines within the Engineering department;
  • Operational Excellence: Proposing and piloting continuous improvement projects to improve quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the discipline on projects;
  • Standardization: Harmonizing tools, workflows, and procedures, including technical standards and specifications with the other E&C centers’ discipline teams as well as interdisciplinary interfaces;
  • Budgeting: Managing the cost center budget for the Piping department.

Reporting Line & Localization

  • Reporting: You will report directly to the Engineering Director;
  • Location: This role is located in Kraków, Poland. All direct reports are based in the Kraków office and in Frankfurt office.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in related Engineering field;
  • Extensive experience in Piping Engineering within the oil & gas, chemical, or energy sectors;
  • Proven knowledge of project execution in the EPC Industry;
  • Several years of experience in project management and/or line management;
  • Good understanding of interrelations between the different Engineering Disciplines;
  • Demonstrable skills in developing others and managing teams & teamwork;
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with a proven ability to challenge the status quo and drive change;
  • Very good written and spoken English.
