We are looking for a Process Engineer Industrial to contribute to the design, optimization and safe development and deployment of machines for industrial manufacturing of high-temperature thin-film superconductors (HTS).

Responsibilities

  • Act as a cross-functional technical reference for process design, chemical handling, and safety aspects across development activities;
  • Translate process flow diagrams (PFDs) into piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) in collaboration with the R&D engineers and HSE service;
  • Lead HAZOP, FMEA and risk assessment analyses for new processes or plant modifications. Ensure adhere to process safety and regulatory compliance;
  • Identify potential operational risks and contribute to the development strategies for waste management, including the treatment of exhaust process gases, wastewater, and chemical waste;
  • Write and update technical documentation: process descriptions, operating conditions, start-up/shutdown procedures, and control strategies;
  • Monitor process parameters (pressure, temperature, flow rate, …) during pilot and scale-up tests. Collaborate with R&D engineers and characterization team to correlate process parameters with product performance;
  • Contribute to identifying critical control points and process improvement opportunities by proposing technical solutions;
  • Support R&D, pilot plant activities, and scale-up, and contribute to process design and optimization to ensure safety, efficiency, and industrial robustness.

Technical supervision of chemical flows

  • Technical management of chemical inventories, ensuring availability, compatibility, and traceability;
  • Technical supervision process waste streams (liquid, solid, gaseous) and support HSE service in proper classification and handling;
  • Identify process issues and propose technical improvements for efficiency, safety, and product quality.

Education and professional experience

  • PhD or Master’s degree + equivalent experience in chemical engineering or related field;
  • At least 3, preferably 5 years of experience in an industrial, production environment requiring safe chemical handling;
  • Experience with thin film processes and proven experience in scale-up and industrialization of chemical processes a plus.

Languages

  • English (C1);
  • French (B1 or more) is nice to have.

Technical skills

  • In-depth knowledge of industrial equipment operation in chemical environments;
  • Skills in process optimization to maximize productivity and operational reliability;
  • Experience in chemical risk management and compliance with HSE regulations;
  • Awareness of regulatory and environmental requirements in an industrial setting;
  • Competence in data analysis and performance monitoring for continuous process improvement;
  • Knowledge of chemical analysis methods: gas analysis, chemical analysis, water analysis is a plus.
