Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between clients, engineering teams and other project functions. Acting as a single point of contact with the client, the Engineering Manager ensures that all design related discussions, technical concerns and progress updates are managed efficiently and communicated clearly.

Responsibilities

Key Objectives for this role:

  • Act as a central point of focus for the Engineering Leads;
  • Serves as a supporting liaison between the client for Engineering discussions/concerns/progress;
  • Responsible for overseeing and facilitating changes that impact multiple disciplines within the project;
  • Main point of interface with the Project Management team;
  • Interface with other Project functions – Construction/Procurement;
  • Chair Weekly Progress meetings with the Leads and Heads of Department;
  • Produce Weekly report to Project management/Corporate management;
  • Work with Project Control team for management of hours/costs/progress information;
  • Involvement, as necessary, in Discipline Set-to-Work (STW) meetings;
  • Overview of Engineering Quality;
  • Involvement in Project Reviews and Engineering Audits.

Qualifications

Expected: 

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence;
  • Balance of technical and leadership experience at Principal/Lead level;
  • Proven experience of supervisory experience with an understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation, and health and safety;
  • Broad knowledge of engineering theories and techniques and a high level of skill in the application of this knowledge in the management of the engineering function;
  • Capable of representing the business and client-to-business associates in a professional manner;
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing people at all levels of the organisation;
  • Skilled in forecast planning for people resources;
  • Able to implement and embed standards and processes to effect delivery of engineering excellence;
  • Good knowledge of the regulatory framework and associated legislation;
  • Current knowledge of industry and technology development within appropriate areas and how this impacts engineering design and execution;
  • Able to conduct audit and incident investigations;
  • Experience of working across different project phases and on projects with different contractual models.
