Network Engineer for Networked Air Defence Systems

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You will be responsible for the architecture, design and integration of networks in modern Short Range Air Defence (SHORAD) systems. You will work with various teams and test laboratories to implement a robust, secure and high-performance network for sensors, command and control components and effectors.
Your responsibilities include:
- Design and documentation of network architectures for secure communication (latency-sensitive, real-time, embedded systems)
- Definition and selection of network components in coordination with the system design
- Configuration and commissioning of network components in laboratory and field environments
- Carrying out integration and performance tests as well as field trials with documentation of the results
- Creation of configuration and test documents according to specifications
- Collaboration in the further development of standards, templates and processes in the network area
- Close cooperation with the teams for cybersecurity, systems and software
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- Degree in computer science, electrical engineering or communications engineering, or relevant qualification with professional experience
- Professional experience in network engineering or system integration (ideally in security-critical or industrial/IoT/IIoT environments)
- In-depth knowledge of IP networking and protocols (Layer 2/3, VLAN, routing, QoS, NAC, NTP, etc.)
- Experience with network operation, networking tools, network/system hardening and monitoring
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Knowledge of scripting or automation (e.g. Python, Ansible) is an advantage
- Independent, reliable and structured way of working
- Good technical English skills, German skills are an advantage
