Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the heart of an ambitious fusion energy project? Join us as an Equipment Qualification Engineer where your goals will include:
- Coordinating the implementation of processes and technical instructions required to qualify for equipment for functional requirements and environmental conditions, including normal, incidental and accidental conditions.
- Elaborating technical specifications and procedures for nuclear equipment and component qualification (such as Electrical and/or Instrumentation & Control equipment).
- Contributes to, and reviews the drafting, technical control and surveillance of the qualification reports to be part of the Safety Files for the Nuclear Safety Authority.
- Ensuring deliverables are produced according to project schedule and budget, within a quality-assured environment that requires rigor and a systematic way of working.
- Developing, under the leadership of your discipline manager, your skills and experience for the benefit of the Project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs a detailed review of nuclear equipment qualification documents (e.g. Identification File, Qualification programme/plan, Test specifications, Test Reports, monitoring files/Qualification Follow-up Documents, Qualification Summary Report, Qualification Preservation Sheets, Reference Files) and prepares technical review notes.
- Uses multi-system analyses to define loads for equipment qualification purposes and verifies that associated requirements are properly met.
- Provides technical advice to the ITER Systems Teams on all matters related to equipment qualification.
- Elaborates and refines qualification technical specifications and procedures for complex qualification conditions.
- Gathers information to monitor and report on the progress of equipment qualification and to continuously ensure that the List of Qualified Equipment is up to date.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participates in controls, audits, or inspections concerning equipment qualification, and document the findings in formal reports.

Experience & Competencies
Essential:
- Proven experience in equipment/component qualification (e.g. sensors, I&C and/or electrical components) for complex international projects in highly regulated environment, preferably nuclear fission or fusion industry.
- Testing and Qualification: Defining test sequences and supervising the execution of qualification tests in accordance with the specifications of systems, components, piece parts, as well as integrated systems.
- Solid knowledge of equipment failure mechanisms and sensitivity of Electrical and I&C equipment to environmental conditions, such as temperature, radiation, humidity, electromagnetic field (EMC).
- Analysis: Understand, interpret and justify analyses of complex components, under extreme loading conditions (e.g. electromagnetic, radioactive) in a nuclear field.
- Collaboration: Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
- Results-Oriented: Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.
- Continuous Improvement: proposing changes to processes and systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity over time.
- Quality Management Systems (QMS): apply the applicable procedures related to your field of activity.
Desirable:
- Nuclear and related standards (i.e. RCC-E, IEEE, IEC, IAEA, NRC, etc.) concerning equipment qualification (especially for Electrical and I&C equipment).
- Experience in Fire Qualification: Previous experience in qualifying equipment to withstand fire and meet fire safety standards.
- Decision Quality: Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
- Organizational Savvy: maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people related organizational dynamics.
- Optimizes Work Processes: knowing or identifying the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in electronic, automation, nuclear engineering or another relevant discipline.
Desirable:
- Certifications in RCC-E or IEEE standard concerning equipment qualification.
- The required education degree(s) may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains.
