System Engineer - Battery Systems

As a System Engineer, you will take on the technical ownership of battery system development – whether for full systems, modules, or subsystems – working closely with a project manager who handles the organizational aspects (timeline, cost, quality). You will act as the technical lead throughout the development cycle, from concept to industrialization, coordinating across disciplines and ensuring that all technical requirements and standards are met.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development of battery energy storage systems for industrial mobile applications
  • Translate product requirements into technical specifications and system-level architecture
  • Collaborate closely with project management to ensure alignment on schedule, cost, and quality targets
  • Own and manage system requirements, interfaces, and safety concepts
  • Ensure system-level verification, manufacturability, and compliance with standards
  • Participate in the design and development of hardware/software for control units, BMS, and test systems
  • Oversee the design, integration, and testing of functional prototypes and validation samples
  • Prepare and maintain product documentation (e.g. system specifications, BOMs, operation flow-charts, test protocols, RCA reports, manuals)
  • Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software, testing)
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including certification bodies and manufacturing partners

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or related field
  • Proven experience in complex product development, ideally in energy storage or battery systems
  • Strong understanding of system architecture and product lifecycle in a technical environment
  • Experience with industrial standards and regulations (e.g. UN 38.3, IEC61508, EN ISO 13849, EN 1175 is a plus)
  • Ability to think analytically and work systematically across domains
  • Hands-on mentality with a structured and goal-oriented working style
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • A team player with a high sense of ownership and responsibility
