YOUR ROLE

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Photonics Design Engineer to support the development and optimization of cutting-edge photonic integrated circuits (PICs) in Leuven. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in photonic component design, modeling, and layout, who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, model, and layout photonic components and integrated circuits using industry-standard tools;
Set up and execute design of experiments (DoE) to validate and optimize photonic designs;
Analyze test data to extract performance metrics and guide design improvements;
Translate customer requirements into system-level concepts and PIC architectures;
Contribute to the enhancement of existing photonic platforms;
Maintain and update design libraries, documentation, and standard operating procedures.

YOUR PROFILE

Degree in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred);
Proven experience in photonic design and simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical, IPKISS, Synopsys, etc.);
Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB);
Familiarity with PIC fabrication processes and testing methodologies;
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
