This is what you can do:

Develop and lead the department

  • Responsible to disciplinary lead the department Avionics, Electrics & EWIS with 20+ engineers;
  • Responsible to develop and implement department strategy derived from both company level and directorate level targets;
  • Responsible to derive internal/external competence needs and to select strategic engineering service provider and subcontractors;
  • Responsible to define department sub-structures, incl. roles & responsibilities;
  • Responsible to perform regular workforce/workload planning in-line with program/project needs and to adjust workforce in accordance with agreed head count targets;
  • Responsible to plan all program/project deliverables and to (re-)assign workforce as required to ensure On Time/On Cost/On Quality (OTOCOQ) delivery;
  • Responsible to regularly monitor work progress based on a set of KPI and to perform risk management including planning of adequate risk mitigations and actions.

Drive and monitor people development

  • Responsible to identify and develop high potentials for future line management, program/project management, and expert positions in close alignment with HR;
  • Responsible to ensure adequate training of all engineers to ensure timely delivery of all program/project milestones;
  • Responsible for nomination of a sufficient number of DREs and CVEs or all ATA chapters within perimeter of own department in close alignment with Airworthiness;
  • Responsible to act as coach for high-potentials and to assign mentors to new engineers;
  • Responsible to define a training curriculum for new engineers in own department.

Define and maintain development processes and procedures

  • Responsible to define development processes and procedures for Avionics, Electrics & EWIS as required by authorities and air legislation needs (e.g. CS-25);
  • Responsible to maintain and update development processes and procedures as required by certification standards evolution in close alignment with Airworthiness;
  • Responsible to define and drive opportunities for digitalization and automatization of development processes, methods & tools in close alignment with directorate Digitalization.

You’ll bring this with you:

  • Engineering degree (e.g. BEng, MEng) in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related area;
  • At least 15 years of professional experience in relevant fields of aircraft development;
  • Wide proficiency of latest certification requirements, aircraft system design approaches, incl. interfaces with all other disciplines;
  • Proven background in new aircraft development or aircraft maintenance for at least 2 different aircraft programs;
  • Excellent knowledge of air legislation, quality management, configuration management and all safety aspects for new aircraft development;
  • Proven disciplinary leadership experience of at least 10 years in a similar area;
  • Experience in strategy and organization development;
  • Strong team building, motivation and excellent communication skills;
  • Pro-active and solution-oriented working style.
