Senior Engineer Load Calculation - Wind Turbine

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Load Calculation Engineer to join our international Load & Site Assessment team. In this role, you will contribute expert knowledge to site-specific load calculations, support the development of new wind turbines, and drive innovation in methodologies and tools for fast load approximation and structural suitability simulations.
Your Tasks:
- Support the development of new fast load approximation methodologies in line with strategic business objectives.
- Lead the continuous development and refinement of load calculation methodologies and toolchains for wind resource and site-specific suitability assessments.
- Identify and implement innovative, cost-effective technical solutions within short timeframes.
- Perform advanced load simulations for class-based and site-specific conditions, including conceptual studies for new design approaches.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize controller functions and support component design.
- Plan and execute load assessment tasks for research, sales, and service-related projects using advanced aero-elastic simulation tools.
- Provide expert technical input to development projects by integrating real site-specific load insights.
- Prepare clear technical reports and documentation summarizing analyses and results.
- Support certification processes and claims investigations with deep technical understanding.
- Contribute to project execution in line with Nordex project management standards.
- Lead or support root cause analyses related to methodology performance, toolchain behavior, or field-related issues.
Your Profile:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Renewable Energy, or a similar field with a focus on dynamics, simulation, or structural mechanics (preferred).
- Strong expertise in industry standards, especially IEC 61400-1.
- Extensive experience with advanced aerodynamic simulation tools (e.g., Bladed, Alaska, HawcStab, Flex5).
- Solid background in dynamic simulations of complex mechanical systems and fatigue analysis methodologies.
- Experience in methodology development and interpreting complex physical phenomena.
- Additional skills in software development or tool customization are considered an asset.
- Communicative, empathetic, and team-oriented mindset; able to create a collaborative and motivating work atmosphere.
- Flexible, dynamic working style with a creative and analytical approach to solving technical challenges.
- Comfortable collaborating with international stakeholders across engineering hubs in Spain, Germany, and India.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with external partners such as certification bodies, research institutes, and consultants.
- Fluent in English; Spanish or German language skills are a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
