Are you passionate about designing precision components that make a real difference in healthcare? Join GE HealthCare as a Mechanical Designer and help shape the future of ultrasound technology across a wide range of clinical applications, from handheld wireless devices to women’s health and beyond.

In this hands-on role, you will design and develop components and systems for ultrasound probes, including injection-molded plastics, machined parts, and adhesive systems. You’ll also step beyond CAD to support verification and validation, collaborate with suppliers, and contribute to reliability growth testing such as drop tests. Experience in FEM simulation or multi-body physics is a strong plus.

What You’ll Do

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies for ultrasound probes
  • Apply knowledge of materials, adhesives, and manufacturing processes
  • Support testing, validation, and supplier collaboration
  • Contribute to product reliability and performance improvements

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Establishes product requirements (internal and external), defines components and sub systems making up the overall architecture. Provides forward looking strategy for platforms and technology development / insertion to make product competitive. Defines and provides scope management. (defines the what)
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

What You Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong CAD skills and hands-on design experience
  • Knowledge of plastics, adhesives, and mechanical testing
  • Legal authorization to work in Austria
  • Fluent English
