Sr. AIT Spacecraft AOCS Engineer

Sr. AIT Spacecraft AOCS Engineer

ICEYE

Espoo, Finland

The Mission

We are searching for an AIT Spacecraft AOCS Engineer to take technical ownership of the integration and verification of the satellite’s Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS). In this hands-on, cross-functional role, you will work closely with both Engineering and Production teams to ensure the AOCS is manufacturable, testable, and reliable throughout assembly, integration, and system validation. You will define integration and test strategies for AOCS units - such as reaction wheels, star trackers, gyros, magnetorquers, GNSS modules, and associated software - and ensure that what is designed can be built and verified efficiently.

You’ll support projects from early design through final testing, contributing to key reviews and ensuring that integration plans, tools, procedures, and documentation are robust. On the production floor, you’ll lead AOCS system testing and debug activities, and support anomaly resolution and root cause analysis when needed. This is a system-level, hands-on role requiring deep technical insight and strong collaboration skills to ensure that ICEYE’s AOCS performs reliably in orbit and scales effectively with production.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working with aerospace/robotics (or similar) control systems: Strong understanding of control systems and closed-loop feedback principles, particularly as applied to spacecraft attitude and orbit control;
  • Understanding of how embedded systems are validated in real hardware;
  • Experience translating software logic into testable behaviors;
  • Familiarity with satellite system-level integration, including interface dependencies;
  • Experience participating in major satellite project reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR, PRR);
  • Hands-on experience with integration and testing sensors and actuators, and complex mechatronic or embedded systems;
  • Working knowledge of Python, bash or scripting tools for test automation, data logging, and analysis;
  • Experience working as the interface between Production and Engineering, ideally in aerospace or robotics;
  • Familiarity with verification methods and test coverage across various environmental and functional campaigns;
  • Strong collaboration skills and willingness to support teams on the production floor;
  • Proactive mindset and comfort operating in fast-paced, high-change environments.

Key Competences

In addition to the requirements above, we evaluate candidates on these key qualities throughout the hiring process:
