Design Lead - Mechanical Tools

About the role:
As a technical lead you will be the technical link between customers, our design team and the technicians on site. You will lead the work of developing project-specific tools for cutting and handling of the reactor components under water or in shielded cells.
You will report to the Segmentation Engineering Manager and be located at Bränslegatan in Västerås. You will also travel some in this role, mostly within Europe but also other places around the world. The travels are often short periods and planned ahead. We offer a hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a technical team for development of technical concept based on costumer requirements;
- Lead designers for tool development;
- Work with improvement of our methods and tools;
- Write and update a technical description and present the technical setup to the customer;
- Collaborate with on site staff regarding technical issues;
- Prepare cost calculation data for engineering hours and purchases.
You will join a experienced team who all work with the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. These parts are radioactive and the work must be done remotely and shielded.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering with a specialization in mechanical engineering or similar field;
- 5+ years Experience leading technical projects or in a role as design lead;
- Experience with writing technical documentation;
- Full professional proficiency in English.
Meritorious
- Technical background in design;
- Understanding of tool design and CAD tools;
- Additional European language, e.g.. German or Swedish;
- Experience working international.
