Senior Electrical Design Engineer (HV/MV)

You’ll be a key support to our regional electrical leader, managing a variety of tasks and taking the lead on multiple projects and deliverables including supporting proposals.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in HV/MV electrical engineering, breadth of knowledge and a desire to achieve chartership and progress in their career. Flexibility, drive and willingness to learn will be key to success.

Key Responsibilities

Undertaking HV/MV engineering design activity and reviewing the work of others, including: power system analysis, substation design, cable route design, and protection system coordination, often for grid connection for renewable energy sites or power plants, and Balance-of-plant (BOP) for eg. BESS;
Supporting proposals (approx. 20% of time);
Site activity including visits, audits and commissioning activity (approx. 10% of time);
Typically, 1-2 detailed engineering projects, or multiple smaller and less complex projects will be managed with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

BEng Electrical Engineering/Power Engineering;
Relevant UK work experience (typically around 5 years);
Knowledge of UK Grid Code and British Standards;
High Voltage (HV) Engineering experience required, Medium Voltage (MV) desired
UK driving licence;
Unrestricted Right to work in UK – we can’t offer visa sponsorship;
Can be based in Glasgow (preferred) or London with flexibility to travel within region up to 10% of time.

Preferred Qualifications

Chartered– Incorporated Engineer (IENG) Ideally have, or actively seeking to work towards;
Experience with DNO, renewables, utility sector;
Balance of Plant (BOP) experience, particularly for Battery Storage (BESS) and Data Centres.
