Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the heart of an ambitious fusion energy project? Join our Assembly and Commissioning Support Division (ACSD) within the Engineering Service Department (ESD) as an Assembly Engineer.
As an Mechanical Engineer - Assembly, your goals will include:
- Performing and managing assembly/construction related activities for the scope of activity, allowing all stakeholders to perform work in a safe and qualitative manner, within the assigned budget and schedule;
- Resolving potential safety, quality, or technical issues in a timely manner;
- Ensuring deliverables are produced according to project schedule and budget, within a quality-assured environment that requires rigor and a systematic way of working;
- Developing, under the leadership of your discipline manager, your skills and experience for the benefit of the Project.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensures assembly work by contractors is undertaken to appropriate and specified quality standards;
- Provides input on engineering work scope completion, installation methods, requirements, and construction execution sequence;
- Maintains and approves documentation, identifying any variances or issues, detailing progress on the work activities throughout the assembly/construction phase;
- Writes technical documentation as required (such as coordination plans, logistics plans, etc.) and updates documents as needed for the scope of activity;
- Collaborates and acts as primary contact point between multidisciplinary teams (design team, safety, assembly contractors, construction management, commissioning, lifting, logistics and scaffoldings teams) to enhance communication and optimize workflows;
- Collects and verifies input data for the assembly of the assigned scope and reviews the deliverables produced by external contractors.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provides high-level support for assembly related problems and follows-up on the resolution of on-site engineering changes and installation non-conformities;
- Reviews detailed workshop drawings or any Installation Procedures, Inspection & Test Plans and the installation testing issued by the installation Contractor;
- Issues inspection and observation reports when and where required.

This position may require shift rotation and/or availability including day, evening, and night shifts, as well as weekends and holidays, depending upon project or team needs. This position also requires working at height.
Experience & Competencies
Essential:
- Proven experience in coordinating or supervising design, procurement, assembly and installation of complex mechanical systems within international environments or projects;
- Mechanical Engineering: Knowledge, capability and practices involving the assembly, construction and testing of systems, associated with mechanical equipment and facilities structures;
- Assembly and Installation: Practical experience in managing activities associated with assembling, aligning and positioning large, manufactured components and systems at designated locations;
- Practical knowledge of health and safety and environmental protection regulations on a construction site;
- Communicates Effectively: Ability to facilitate dialogue with a wide variety of contributors and stakeholders;
- Project Management: planning, measuring progress, managing risks and costs, and reporting on progress to manage programs or initiatives within the constraints of human and financial constraints;
- Continuous Improvement: proposing changes to processes and systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity over time;
- Quality Management Systems (QMS): apply the applicable procedures related to your field of activity.
Desirable:
- Codes & Standards: Understanding and applying industry, discipline or job-specific codes, standards and regulations to ensure that products, services, and processes comply with applicable requirements and legal frameworks;
- Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing techniques including logistics, welding processes, non-destructive tests, and cleanliness;
- Organizational Savvy: maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people related organizational dynamics;
- Optimizes Work Processes: knowing or identifying the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline;
- The required education degree(s) may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains.
