The Role:
We're looking for a Technical Engineering Director - Robotics (m/f/d) to join our engineering team and lead the development and execution of our regional robotics engineering strategy. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical leader passionate about advancing robotics technologies for mission-critical applications combining innovation, reliability, and defense-grade compliance.

Strategic & Technical Leadership
- Define and execute the technical strategy for robotics development in the region;
- Ensure technical excellence across disciplines: robotics, AI/ML, computer vision, embedded systems, controls, electronics, and mechanical integration;

- Translate company strategy into actionable engineering roadmaps aligned with customer missions.
Organizational & People Leadership
- Build, scale, and lead regional engineering teams across multiple disciplines;

- Establish a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement;
- Develop future leaders by providing coaching and growth opportunities.
Program & Delivery Management
- Own delivery of regional engineering programs, from R&D through deployment;
- Oversee budgets, resource allocation, and risk management;
- Drive disciplined execution: systems engineering, testing, certification, and production readiness;
- Ensure compliance with defense standards, cybersecurity protocols, and export controls.
Cross-Functional & External Engagement
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and business leadership;
- Represent the company to defense partners, suppliers, and government stakeholders;
- Align local execution with global engineering practices and long-term strategy;
- Act as a visible leader in the defense robotics ecosystem within the UK.
Your Profile:
- Experience in robotics, defense systems, or advanced engineering industries;
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director, VP, or equivalent), managing large technical teams;
- Deep technical expertise in one or more core areas (autonomy, teleoperation, AI/ML, embedded systems, mechatronics);
- Proven success delivering production-grade defense or mission-critical systems;
- Strong background in systems engineering and multidisciplinary program delivery;
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and executive-level reporting;
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
- Familiarity with defense procurement, certification, and security clearance processes;
- Background in cybersecurity, safety-critical systems, or secure communications.
