EWIS Engineer
IDE - Intracom Defense
Koropi, Greece
We’re on the lookout for an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer with an interest in the design of unmanned aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS). If you're ready to take the lead and drive innovation, IDE is where you belong.
What You ‘ll Be Doing
- Participate in the entire aircraft design and development cycle of state-of-the-art fixed-wing small and tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for defense and security applications, including certification;
- Design and develop EWIS in accordance with UAS requirements and regulatory standards.
Interact with:
- Systems engineers to capture the electrical design requirements;
- Structural aeronautical engineers to perform trade-off studies concerning EWIS weight buildup, EWIS routing restrictions, EWIS mounting, etc.;
- Create 3D model-based definitions of the EWIS with respect to design standards selected (i.e. SAE ARP 50881);
- Use industry-standard tools for electrical design and documentation. Collaborate with EWIS production engineers for design for manufacturing;
- Prepare and review wiring diagrams/tables, harness layouts, installation drawings, schematics and formboards for manufacturing;
- Support the certification processes, including development of compliance documentation and coordination with regulatory authorities.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor or MSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
- Knowledge of either EWIS/Hydraulics routing using CAD tools, or physical cable routing;
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional engineering teams;
- Experience working with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods;
- Good knowledge of mechanical drawing rules;
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional engineering teams.
Desired:
- Proven working experience on EWIS design and/or EWIS manufacturing;
- Knowledge of aircraft wiring standards, materials, and certification requirements;
- Understanding of relevant regulatory and certification frameworks (e.g., DO-160, DO-254, ARP4754A);
- Understanding of, or experience with:
- Milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR;
- Development and maintenance of electrical wiring diagrams and harness architecture to meet system requirements.
- Comprehension and application of EMI/RFI, signal shielding, and bonding principles;
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard practices and requirements;
- Knowledge and understanding of product development methodologies, such as the V-model;
- Work experience with SIEMENS NX or DASSAULT CATIA V5 modules for Electrical routing/harness design.
Applicants must be EU Citizens to meet Defense security requirements.
Key Competencies
