Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of production to ensure that departments within the organization reach production goals within budget and a high level of quality;
- Leads the holistic development and implementation of production and material planning strategies that align to the product segments;
- Drive improvements in quality, productivity and the elimination on non-value add processes;
- Implement process improvements that support business goals such as linear shipments, development of standard lead-times for key products, rapid material shortage simulation in response to customer order requests and fully automated Kanban system for hardware/miscellaneous expense materials;
- Develop standard work and ensure all processes and procedures are documented;
- Develop the knowledge and skills of the production team through cross training on all processes and equipment;
- Champion, lead and execute Lean and continuous improvement initiatives; build a continuous improvement culture;
- Work with all levels of the organization on various projects or on cross functional teams;
- Work with engineering and manufacturing engineers on process improvements and new product introduction;
- Participate in cross functional improvement teams;
- Schedule resources accordingly to meet customer commitments and internal targets;
- Identify and implement the necessary training for the production and service teams;
- Perform annual reviews; recommend promotions or terminations. Maintain employee attendance records approve vacation time as appropriate and ensure proper coverage in all departments;
- Ensure proper time reporting of labor in ERP system;
- Ensure accurate planning parameters/data are populated and adjusted in IFS as required;
- Track, monitor and report on KPI’s;
- Ensuring that production meets customer delivery requirements;
- Ensure parts are produced to stated requirements;
- Work with production planning and procurement on delivery needs, parts shortages and developing priorities;
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to the planning team.
Education and Experience:
- Maters or BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Management, 10+ years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Experience in the production of electromechanical systems and subassemblies for marine applications;
- Practical experience implementing lean principals.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Continuous improvement and lean principals; verifiable lean manufacturing experience;
- Knowledge of using ERP system for running production floor, time reporting, capacity planning;
- Communicate clearly to all levels within the organization (verbal and written);
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; work to meet monthly, quarterly and annual targets in a rapidly changing and growing environment;
- Proficient with all MS Office products.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervision of exempt and non-exempt employees.
