As a Senior Researcher on Electrical Systems, you will fulfil this mission by providing and driving impactful results on upcoming technology, and you will do so in a collaborative environment. The team are an international group with great talent who are passionate and knowledgeable about power electronics.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate expert knowledge in at least one of the following:
- High power density power electronics converter design, analysis, and control.
- Modelling and evaluation of electrical power distribution architectures including consideration of redundancy, fault isolation, and system safety.
- EMI analysis and filter design, including optimal design of magnetic components.
- Control of converters and motor-drive systems and implementation in digital control platform (DSP, FPGA).
- High-voltage effects and mitigations including some or all aspects of arcing faults, creepage/clearance, partial discharge, and lightning. Preferably including knowledge of altitude/low pressure considerations.
An applied background in aerospace systems and architectures is a plus. Familiarity with aerospace regulations and certification standards is also desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary and cooperative team, and will be expected to:
- Develop and execute technology research plans within time and budget constraints.
- Demonstrate technical excellence and creative thinking that leads to innovative concepts.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and provide timely, accurate reports and presentations to senior management and functional teams.
- Enjoy working in the lab to design and test hardware prototypes and/or implement and test control strategies.
- Actively contribute concepts to technology roadmaps.
- Assume responsibility for several components on a project or a complex component of a larger project.
- Assist in developing proposals for externally-funded research.
Qualifications and required experience/skills
- A PhD in Electronics Engineering, with 0-2+ years of industrial or academic experience, or a Master’s degree with 2-5+ years of experience in industry or academia.
- Motivated self-starter with a strong enthusiasm to learn and passion for mentoring and experimental work.
- Self-driven, works autonomously with limited oversight.
- Well-organized and has excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills to work in international teams.
- Willing to champion and challenge new technical ideas.
- Able to adapt to new challenges and go beyond the original field of expertise.
- Able to partner with universities, government agencies, national labs, and professional organizations to meet organizational objectives within time and budget constraints.
