Purpose and Mission

Manages department with a lower level of organizational complexity and size but with high technical knowhow. Makes processes applicable in function of a set of product functionalities. Has its added value in the development and improvement of the technology and its processes.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Manages production (Temperovens), Quality Control, Process&Product Development;
  • Organize, follows up and monitor daily operations in order to ensure the achievement of targets related to safety/environment, output, quality, cost, maintenance & profitability;
  • Ensure optimal work organization & staffing;
  • Ensures an optimal working climate and cooperation between the different departments (maintenance, quality, planning, production departments…);
  • Contribute to/initiate process improvements/optimizations, total quality projects;
  • Promote the awareness of customers’ requirements in the organization;
  • Communicates with the unions (on local/departmental level);
  • Deploys the X+1 plan for Temperovens;
  • Coach and develop the own staff.

Skills

  • Technical & Functional knowledge: has a bachelor degree or equivalent;
  • Strong in data-analyses and feels free in statistics (proven experience and/or capabilities to develop);
  • In-depth conceptual insights into the technology, substantiated practical know-how;
  • Builds expertise in its technology domain(s);
  • Possesses and keeps up-to-date knowledge of technology;
  • Thorough knowledge of technical English;
  • People manager, by preference 10 years’ experience in managing a team (internal/external);
  • Has the necessary impact to convince others;
  • Pro-active, autonomous and driven, able to identify and pursue opportunities without needing detailed instructions or close supervision, e.g. necessary process settings and installation needs to achieve the desired product requirements;
  • Organisational skill: understands the organisational sensitivity and co-operations with the unions, production management and executives. Knows how to react on this without losing focus;
  • Can set the right priorities;
  • Leads and develops a team;
  • Skilled in employee engagement, conflict resolution, and performance management. Adept at fostering a positive work environment and driving organizational success through effective people management

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
