About This Opportunity

We are seeking a proficient individual to fulfill a dual role as General System Manager in the User Plane area and CT4 Back Office Specialist within the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Technical Specification Group CT, Working Group CT4. This position places special emphasis on critical networking functions and the evolution of 3GPP standards to ensure interoperability and contribute to Ericsson’s technical leadership.

What You Will Do

As General System Manager User Plane:

  • Provide the technical network/black box system view for teams within its area, with a focus on networking functions such as routing, GSA (Gateway Support for LTE Services), GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation), and IPsec (Internet Protocol Security).
  • Develop and maintain system requirements, taking ownership of selected system artifacts to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct system studies within your competence area, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Support development teams with feature system views during feature development.
  • Review and approve CPI on area and feature levels.
  • Support customers through market support in sales and maintenance processes.

As 3GPP Standardization CT4 Back Office Specialist:

  • Support the CT4 Delegate by assisting in preparing for and participating in 3GPP CT4 meetings, including researching relevant documentation, drafting contributions, and managing follow-up actions.
  • Analyze existing and proposed 3GPP protocol specifications to assess their impact on Packet Core products and services. Assist in preparing internal and external documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, architecture, and product management, to ensure core network solutions align with 3GPP standards.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and share insights from 3GPP activities.
  • Stay updated on trends and advancements in 3GPP standardization, focusing on core network protocols to maintain a competitive edge.

You will bring

  • A degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of core network protocols and architectures, including deep familiarity with 3GPP standards, specifically within the CT4 domain.
  • Competence in Packet Core technologies and systems, with the ability to apply this knowledge to standardization efforts.
  • Ability to understand and define complete system behavior, both functional and non-functional, with specific emphasis on networking functions like routing, GSA, GRE, and IPsec.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative spirit with a proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Analytical skills for interpreting complex technical specifications and assessing their implications for network design and functionality.
  • Technical understanding and experience with 4G and 5G packet core networks.
