Aeronautical Design Engineer - Structures
IDE - Intracom Defense
Koropi, Greece
Why You Should Join Us:
IDE is in the process of becoming the first approved Aeronautical Design Organization in Greece and one of the few globally, focused on Unmanned Aircraft Systems. Our mission is to develop and produce innovative yet safe UAS for the defense and civilian markets. We’re on the lookout for an Aeronautical Design Engineer with a passion for aircraft structures. If you're ready to take the lead and drive innovation, IDE is where you belong.
What You ‘ll Be Doing:
- Participate in the entire aircraft design and development cycle of state-of-the-art fixed-wing small and tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for defense and security applications, including certification.
Interact with:
- Aeronautics and stability aeronautical engineers to perform trade-off studies concerning weight buildup, planform layout, load paths, structural integrity, aeroelasticity performance, etc.
- FEM analysts, to specify requirements for both low- and high-fidelity analyses and evaluate the results.
- Compile and release structural integrity and performance reports throughout all aircraft design phases.
- Specify, analyze the results of ground and flight tests, and release the corresponding reports.
- Interface with stakeholders in design reviews, test reports and project meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor or MSc in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on composite structures.
- Background in aircraft structural sizing using widely employed methodologies.
- Good knowledge of composite design and manufacturing for parts and structures.
- Good knowledge of mechanical drawing rules.
- Hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling tools.
- Hands-on experience with FEA modeling tools.
- Knowledge of principles driving fluid-structure interactions (FSI).
- Knowledge of aircraft mechanisms and subsystems.
Desired:
- Proven working experience on planform layout and airborne structural performance.
- Understanding of or experience with:
- FEM techniques and tools for composite structures.
- Fixed wing aircraft structural design methods and layouts.
- Variable geometry fixed wing UAVs.
- Good knowledge of principles driving fluid-structure interactions (FSI) such as aeroelasticity and flutter.
- Good knowledge in aircraft mechanisms and subsystems.
- Familiarity with reliability and airworthiness standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of product development methodologies, such as the V-model.
- Work experience with SIEMENS NX or DASSAULT CATIA V5.
