Energy transition is accelerating the development of turbine (both steam turbines and axial expanders) involved in Advanced Bottoming Cycles (including sCO2 and steam), Energy Storage and Oxyfuel combustion. Related development activities pose significant challenges mostly associated to the design requirements driven by these new applications.
The Steam Turbine and Axial Expanders NPD Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the successful execution of design, analysis, prototype validation and industrialization of new components for Steam Turbine and Axial Expanders by:
- Leading the conceptual design of new components: conduct the trade off analysis of the possible design solutions, generate 3D models and perform basic mechanical and thermal analysis of the chosen solution
- Leading the mechanical integrity and life assessment of existing and new components
- Executing design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned components using sound engineering principles, adhering to business standards
- Design and follow-up components validation tests

To be successful in this role you will:
- Hold a MS degree in mechanical/aeronautical/Nuclear Engineering
- Have recognized experience in structural and thermal analysis by FEM
- Show capability to understand systems and component’s functional requirements and flow-down them into design requirements.
- Display strong oral and written communication skills in English language
- Have excellent team working attitude
- Show good presentation skills and demonstrated ability in documentation and sharing of results
- Be able to coordinate external resources and prioritize work execution
- Show data-driven decision making attitude
Preferred competencies:
- Specific competence in Ansys FEM and Unigraphics NX CAD software
- Experience in definition and execution of component’s validation tests
- Experience in design of turbomachinery components for high temperature applications
