Job Overview

Telespazio Germany is seeking a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to join our Earth Explorer Service Team, based at the European Spacecraft Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany.

Key Responsibilities

The initial activities to be supported by this service are:

• Mission commissioning operations activities, focus on Biomass TCS/EPS/RF engineering services, with the possibility to provide cross support to other Earth Explorer missions (e.g. EarthCARE, FLEX, CRYOSAT/SWARM, etc.);
• Participation in Biomass Commissioning Phase campaign;
• On-call service.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering;
• At least 2 years’ experience in delivering spacecraft operations services.

Essentially:

• Spacecraft System and Subsystem knowledge;
• Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations;
• Experience in the update of nominal & contingency procedures;
• Experience with Spacecraft Performance Analysis;
• Coordination and interaction with other service providers in operations and other fields (team player);
• Scripting skills, especially Python and Linux Shell (BASH);
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
• The ability to multi-task efficiently; working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously;
• Good Communication skills;
• Fluent in the English language.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with the ESOC environment, in particular Earth Observation missions;
• Familiarity with satellite control systems;
• Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry;
• Familiarity with operational simulators;
• Familiarity with MOIS;
• Experience with automation of tasks;
• Satellite Validation Test experience will be an advantage.

Furthermore

• European citizenship required;
• CV in Europass format.
