Nuclear Safety Engineer IO1124
ITER - International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor
Saint-Paul-lez-Durance, France
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the heart of an ambitious fusion energy project? Join us as a Nuclear Safety Engineer where your goals will include:
- Performing nuclear safety analyses regarding the potential events and hazards that could occur in the facility, in support of the ITER nuclear safety demonstration and licensing process;
- Preparing documentation in support of the ITER licensing process (e.g. safety reports);
- Providing support to the design and construction teams in the application of nuclear safety requirements arising from the analyses, verify the compliance of the systems with these safety requirements, and assess proposed modifications in relation with nuclear safety.
The Engineering Service Department provides the required skilled engineering resources or services, which are necessary for the successful completion of the ITER Project.
The Nuclear Safety Engineering section supports different IO entities requiring nuclear safety expertise, including Nuclear Safety analysis and support to designers.
Being a member of the Nuclear Safety Engineering Section, you will have the opportunity to share and develop your expertise with other colleagues working in the same discipline on different ITER units.

- Takes editorial responsibility for relevant sections of documentation (e.g. safety report, impact study) prepared for submission to the French nuclear safety authorities as part of the ITER licensing process;
- Implements and verifies propagation of the nuclear safety requirements for all protection important systems and components within the project;
- Verifies the compliance of the identified protection important components with their defined nuclear safety requirements;
- Prepares technical responses at the request of the nuclear safety authorities during the examination of the ITER safety files, through written documents, presentations, and discussions with the authorities and their technical advisors.
Additional Responsibilities:
