The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will be part of core development team for Ansys Electronics Products and will extend its publicly exposed grpc and Python APIs (pyaedt). Developing these APIs will require developing and extending internal interfaces and extending/refactoring publicly exposed APIs. This will also require collaborating with a team of expert professionals among customers, application engineers, and developers to understand API and scripting requirements of AnsysEM customers.

Development of these APIs is integral to Ansys' pervasive insights strategy, which focuses on creating cloud-native products, modernizing user interfaces and experiences, and integrating APIs. The objective is to enhance the user experience and enable advanced insights by providing powerful tools for simulation, data processing, and automation. These APIs will empower customers to build their own custom applications and seamlessly integrate Ansys products into their workflows

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Extend publicly exposed Python APIs (pyaedt) using AnsysEM internal interfaces;
Refactor existing python and C++ code as needed to extend the python and grpc APIs;
Build unit tests/regression tests based on upcoming internal changes;
Integrate tests with core/product development process (CI/CD) to ensure backward compatibility;
Understands and employs best practices for python and grpc API development;
Works under the general supervision of a development manager.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years’ experience; Preferably integrated MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science;
Working experience with software design and development methodologies;
Demonstrated experience with Python.
