FEA Engineer

The FEA Engineer will be a member of the global FEA team, responsible mainly for noise and vibration simulations for Garrett's electric product portfolio. This engineer will partner with internal and external customers to ensure launches without noise issues on vehicle.
Key Job Areas of Responsibilities
- Develop and validate simulation methodology for electric traction drive structural analyzes, modal and harmonic analyzes, NVH, noise predictions, run calculations for eMotor, gearbox, inverter and full system.
- Collaborate with electric motor design team, gear box team, 3in1 system team to ensure NVH is accounted for in electromagnetic optimization process.
- Automate simulation workflow process/creation of custom toolsets for quick design assessment (macros in ACT/APDL, scripting in Python or any other relevant language…).
- Make proactive design recommendations to minimize component level noise radiation.
- Document best practices and mature internal databases to support quicker resolution of issues in future.
- Provide trainings to internal teams to improve their knowledge on fundamentals of NVH and its application to electric powertrain.
Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Masters preferred, specialization in Applied Mechanics, FEA, NVH or related fields preferred.
Experience
- Working experience with simulations, FEA, preferably for automotive applications. NVH simulation skills are plus.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of FEA (ANSYS Mechanical, Simscale), electromagnetic and gear transmission error simulations (MASTA) is bonus.
- Ability to independently define boundary conditions for complex full system models..
- Strong knowledge of fundamentals of noise generation and perception and vibration transmission.
- Knowledge of electric machine and gearbox, electric powertrain fundamentals and their relation to NVH is preferred.
- Knowledge CAD tools (OnShape, SpaceClaim, Catia).
