Job Description:
To strengthen our manufacturing team responsible for liquid chromatography products and consumables we are looking for a Director of Product and Supply chain engineering (m/f/d).
In this role you will lead our dynamic team in the strategic supply chain integration of our products, supplier development, and supply chain optimization within the manufacturing team of the Liquid Phase Solution Division at Agilent Technologies, located in Waldbronn, Germany. In your new role you will combine technical expertise in engineering with a visionary approach to supply chain management ensuring our products not only meet the highest standards of quality and innovation but are also designed for manufacturing, assembly, and supply chain efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of experience in engineering management with a proven track record in new product introduction, supplier partnership development, and the implementation of cutting-edge supply chain technologies. Leading cross-functional teams, including New Product Engineers, Current Product Engineers and Supplier Development Engineers, the Director will drive continuous improvement of our product lifecycle from concept to market. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills, capable of fostering collaboration across project management and supply chain architecture.
Your major responsibilities:
- You lead a team of operating managers and program/project managers to reach department goals such as gross margin improvements, quality, and market introduction of our products. The team consists of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Your team defines strategy and derives projects for Supplier Development and New Product Introduction. Objectives, resource requirements and timely execution as well as balancing priorities and alignment across our manufacturing organization and R&D organization.
- Ownership of the DFx (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Supply chain…) Process and influencing the product design to ensure cost effectiveness and ease of manufacturing.
- Drive innovation and cost savings through optimization and integration into the supply chain.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial, or related field).
- Master’s Degree or MBA, focusing on Engineering Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related fields, is highly preferred for advanced strategic and operational insight.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in product development, engineering management, and supply chain optimization, with significant leadership experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Consistent record in Supplier Development and New Product Introduction (NPI), with expertise in evaluating and integrating supply chain technologies, and optimizing product designs for manufacturability and assembly.
- Experience in leading multi-functional teams, including Project Management and Supply Chain Architecture, to drive product innovation and efficiency across the product lifecycle.
- Advanced understanding of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principles, able to influence product design to ensure cost-effectiveness and ease of manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Supply Chain Architecture, understanding how to design and optimize the supply chain for flexibility, cost efficiency, and resilience.
- Ability to lead and develop diverse engineering teams, staff functions such as Project Management and Supply chain architecture teams as well as managers.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders (R&D, marketing, finance) and external partners (suppliers, technology providers).
- Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning, encouraging teams to embrace new methodologies, tools, and best practices in engineering and supply chain management.
