We are providing and supporting you on the opportunity to let you further growth in our transnational Mass Properties Engineering community to your next level to an experienced Aeronautical Engineer with digital competences. As Mass Properties (weight) is one of the most important performance indicators in the Aeronautical Industries your contribution will be exposed across Engineering to support the improvement of our products and support for a better healthy environment.

Your area or responsibility requires good communication skills in the interface between internal (Chief Engineering, Design Department, Procurement and Production) and external stakeholders (Airlines and Supply Chain as well as the World Wide Mass Properties Community) stakeholders.

Your location

The largest production site for civil aircraft can be found in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe means that you will travel to work by ship. The vibrant port of Hamburg is a green and cosmopolitan city brimming with culture.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Manage overall vehicle mass data and the understanding of mass properties, (Mass, Centre of Gravity, Inertia) over the vehicle lifecycle;
  • Contribute to development of new vehicles (incl. derivatives), operational support of in-service vehicles and decommissioning;
  • Define mass status, target mass and route to target;
  • Contribute to monitoring and reporting mass at the various stages of vehicle life through Mass estimations, calculations, accounting and weight control;
  • Validate mass by weighing's;
  • Collaborate with many technical disciplines to understand and to challenge the vehicle design in the quest for optimum mass;
  • Deliver mass models for Loads analyses;
  • Perform trade studies, benchmarking and competitors' analyses. Contribute to the overall vehicle optimization;
  • Provide support to Chief Engineering and Program for decision making;
  • Contribute in Design reviews, Weight maturity reviews, weight savings, preparing and tracking mass Risk & Opportunities;
  • Support marketing to prepare Customer Guarantees and vehicle deliveries;
  • Load ability, weight & balance;
  • Develop capabilities (R&T, M&T) and processes to enable and enhance Time, Quality, Cost delivery to the programs.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • You hold a Degree as Engineer with at least general aeronautical background;
  • You have first experience and enthusiasm in aeronautical engineering;
  • You are a team player also aiming to develop others;
  • You have first experience Beginner in coding (e.g. Python), or tool development and maintenance (e.g. Git) or data analysis (e.g. SQL);
  • You have very good communication skills and you are able to present and explain complex topics in a simple way.

Your main learning opportunities will be

  • Working in a transnational team. Your home base has motivated team members looking also for private team events with you;
  • Increase understanding of detailed Aircraft design up to Overall Aircraft;
  • Increase your digital competence by supporting our tool development.
