The Flight Physics Capability Operations department (1GZC) plays an essential role in providing Aircraft Performance tools to Engineering including Future Projects Office, Customer Services, Marketing and NAVBLUE. On top of operational challenges, the coming years 1GZC engages in the move towards faster processes and tools in order to significantly reduce the development lead time while delivering robust, optimum product design. This includes our ability to meet with Airbus' ambition related to Autonomous Flight/Single Pilot Operations.

You will integrate our team, specialized in the Aircraft Performance Modelling & Simulation perimeter. You will work closely with the Aircraft Performance department, Customer Services and NAVBLUE to deliver A/C performance, models, tools and software used by the Aircraft Performance community and ultimately delivered to the Airlines, our final customer.

Your role will be to lead the development of the next generation of A/C performance tools for the assessment of low-speed aircraft performance for use in design (Aircraft Performance department, Future Projects Office), responding to Marketing needs and the creation of services to airlines (Customer Services, NAVBLUE). You will act as Product Owner/Technical Lead as well as the software developer. The targeted development involves Python-based software and makes use of cloud computing solutions for data analytics and customer-facing web applications.

We count on your motivation and energy to reinforce the team for the development and support of these tools. You will act as a key player in shaping future aircraft performance capabilities and actively contribute to the implementation strategy in line with key transformation initiatives.

Your responsibilities

Grow through learning and understanding business processes across Flight Physics and especially Aircraft Performance;
Capture, understand and translate internal Airbus end-users' and Airlines needs into tangible objectives, software specifications and users stories for tool & software development;
Manage subcontracting activities and corresponding software acceptance tests;
Work in close relationship with the Aircraft Performance department, Customer Services colleagues and NavBlue on the tool landscape of the future including the development of Airbus' Services portfolio;
Support end-users inside and outside Airbus (Aircraft Performance department, Future Projects Office, Marketing, Customer Services & NAVBLUE).

Your boarding pass

Strong software development skills (Python, C/C++, Fortran & Java);
Good knowledge of DevOps continuous integration, continuous deployment of software applications and services (Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, ...);
Good knowledge of Cloud Computing (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Dockers, ...);
Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and willingness to develop prototypes in an Agile/Sprint environment;
Experience in working in a local & transnational team with ability to coordinate, support and motivate other colleagues;
Strong collaboration mindset & communication skills to effectively interact with local & transnational teams (1GZC), subcontractors and customers;
General knowledge of Flight Physics or Aircraft Performance/Airline Operations;
Enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity and a 'can do' attitude;
Aptitude for problem-solving and innovation;
Negotiation level in English.
