Airbus Defence and Space are looking for a Mechanisms Engineer to join our Mechanisms Department on our Stevenage site. You will be joining a team of approx. 10 professionals who enjoy sharing knowledge and bringing ideas to the table, you will directly contribute to the delivery of mechanisms for Telecoms and Earth Science/Observation missions, for the whole life cycle of the satellites and spacecraft.
We are looking for people with backgrounds in Aerospace, electrical/electronics, medical, trains, automotive, pharmaceutical or other process driven technical industries. You need to have a strong practical understanding of complex mechanisms design, you will be required to take responsibility for achieving and reporting the technical compliance of product over the full cycle of specification, procurement, build, test and delivery, also if necessary to engineer the completion of design improvements and accepted Customer modifications.
As a Mechanisms Engineer you will be working alongside multidisciplinary teams (thermal, stress, manufacturing, assembly and test to name a few) and gaining an in-depth understanding of motors, gearboxes, position sensors, bearings, materials, lubrication and tribology and as well to apply and enhance awareness of mechanical and thermal design and analyses, plus methods of functional and environmental test.
This role can progress into the following career paths: Project Management, Team Lead and Principal Engineer.
This role comes with some national/international travel.
