You will be responsible for the electro-mechanical/hydraulic equipment design, specifying components, and overall integration of sub-systems into the mechanical equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design work on new products, design instrumentation and control and drive systems;
• System design, preparation of schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, parts lists and specifications;
• Development of sensor/solenoid valve based applications, develop solutions and technical concepts for the project applications;
• Specify motor and associated motion control solutions and integration with the electro-mechanical/hydraulic systems;
• Define and manage software requirements for the application;
• Conduct mechanical/electro-hydraulic design and provide integrated solutions for the project applications;
• Engineering documentation to support the equipment design with consideration to current laws and standards;
• Compile documentation for CE/UK CA compliance;
• Interact with and ensure delivery of sub-contracted services and products to meet the project objective;
• Provide existing equipment operations with technical support, commissioning and fault finding;
• Specify and integrate subsea cables and connections for data, power communication into sub-systems;
• Support workshop staff with system assembly, integration and testing;
• Occasional remote based equipment system support to Claxton bases and customers.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechatronics or Electrical or Mechanical with relevant work experience;
• Prior proven experience in the design of remotely operated subsea equipment such as electro-mechanical/hydraulic systems and motion controls;
• Experience prototyping and integrating components, sub-assemblies and full products;
• Knowledge of digital and analogue input/output systems and integration with control systems;
• Knowledge of CAD software, Mechanical/electrical equipment design and integration and respective calculations;
• Some experience in LabView based software development would be an advantage;
• Some experience in communication protocols such as RS232/RS485/ethernet;
• Interest and aptitude in working in a fast paced and demanding environment;
• Effective and supportive team member working within a multidisciplinary team;
• Accuracy of work and attention to detail with innovative thinking.
