The Role
Responsible for delivering the safe and reliable operation of the chassis electronics systems for the Race Support Team. They will configure, monitor and diagnose issues with the chassis control systems before and during track and powertrain test events.
Other responsibilities include
- Monitoring the health and correct functioning of the on-car systems: the hydraulics system including BBW, the in-tank fuel system, the chassis electrical system and the gearbox.
- Lead diagnosis and fault finding of the on-car systems.
- Configuration of the driver interface.
- Providing clear communication to the Track Support Team Leader of all system reliability and performance issues.
- Collaboration with other members of the team is required to ensure safe and reliable operation of the on-car systems.
- Ensuring that relevant company information systems are kept up-to-date.
The Person
We are looking for candidates who have the drive and ambition to strive for excellence in what they do. The successful candidate will be a University Graduate in a STEM discipline, with a good general technical engineering knowledge and also possess the following:
- Several years of trackside experience in high level motorsport.
- A detailed understanding of modern F1 car technology including hydraulic servo controllers, fuel systems, sensors, and embedded control systems.
- Experience in using MATLAB and Simulink.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Knowledge of McLaren Applied off-car tools will provide an advantage.
- Familiarity with voice radio and RF telemetry systems and competence in wiring loom installations will provide an advantage.
