We are looking for a Lead Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Designer to join Airbus in Filton, Bristol (UK). You will join the (SIMS2) Ground Service Equipment Engineering team and report to the Head of the department.

This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with and lead an international team responsible for designing and manufacturing tools to support Airlines and MROs in performing maintenance tasks, aircraft modifications and repairs. You will be part of an end to end GSE community of 50+ people in GSE Design together with 150+ staff in SATAIR.

In this role, you would lead a GSE design team based in Filton (UK) working on wings, fuel systems and landing gear across the whole Airbus product range. The GSE business currently represents 100M€ revenue per year and is growing fast. They are also responsible for developing and adopting new technologies to decrease lead time, identify new materials to improve sustainability, ergonomics and cost.

If successful you will be subject to a BPSS check including a criminal record check.

Tasks & Accountabilities:

New product development: Develop GSE Innovations that do not necessarily derive from standard maintenance tasks but add value to the customer and improve the overall maintainability of our aircrafts;
Innovation Management: Seek new product opportunities e.g. new technologies. Prioritise all existing and upcoming developments and build an innovation roadmap to set a short term, mid term and long term view;
Collaborate with customers: gather customer insights for new opportunities and in special cases develop new GSE solutions directly with our customer;
Collaborate with internal (SATAIR, Aircraft engineering, FALs, Innovation teams, DDMS) and external (GSE manufacturers, automotive industries and boat industries); stakeholders for new development opportunities;
Work together with internal and external partners on highly complex tools e.g. drones, robots, 3D print;
Drive digitalisation of GSE including retrofit solutions;
Tool validations for which some National/International travel will be required.

This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Skills & Experience:

Experience in 3D design (Catia V5), AM Design;
Experience in Aircraft planned Maintenance (A-B-C Checks);
Experience with customer relationship;
Experience in Innovation Management and Agile Methodology;
Experience with QMS and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) would be an asset;
Experience in design to cost and design to manufacture would be an asset;
Excellent leadership, organisation and communication skills;
Able to work in a proactive, autonomous and adaptable manner.
