Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Team has an essential role within West´s Global Engineering team to support the company’s growth by providing state of the art production equipment and continuous improvement of the existing equipment to secure West´s technical leadership role in the market.

As part of our team, you will specify, implement, and improve our equipment for the pharmaceutical packaging processes and automated material handling in our global production facilities. You will work closely with facility engineering, process engineering, procurement, and quality groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With your professional expertise, you will be the Subject Matter Expert for packaging and automated material handling to engineering, management, plant operations and global team members;
  • In close collaboration with vendors, you will develop engineering specifications for new equipment or required improvements on existing equipment;
  • You will architect and specify requirements for interfacing Automation Equipment – Conveyors, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems, Pick and Place Robots, Automated Guided Vehicles – to Production Workflow;
  • It will be on you to develop and deploy the standardization and harmonization of our production equipment and associated documentation across the global network;
  • You will be a technical point of contact with equipment vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks, with clear communication of tasks, actions and monitor equipment deliverables including FAT, SAT, etc.;
  • To understand root cause of failures, propose design or component changes, and implement and validate equipment modifications, you will work closely with vendors;
  • In our GMP environment, you will coordinate and execute all validations and process engineering evaluations for manufacturing equipment;
  • Based on various projects, you will take the lead from the User Requirement Specification issue to Process Qualifications including the GMP conform documentation.

Qualifications:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering, preferred in Electrical or Industrial, with at least 5 years of professional experience in Control Systems Design and Implementation;
  • To be successful in this role, you are proficient with process integration and electromechanical or mechatronic systems;
  • In addition, you bring experience in managing equipment projects including specification, procurement, installation, and qualification;
  • You have a proven track record of programming industrial equipment (Siemens/Allen Bradley), Microsoft Office products, PowerBI, SolidWorks or other CAD systems;
  • With your outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills, you handle multiple projects effectively with minimal direction;
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills in English as well as the willingness to travel up to 25% round off your profile.
